Summer Staff Positions

We are looking to hire the following positions for the upcoming summer:

Assistant Summer Camp Director 
  • Assistant Summer Camp Director. This role works alongside the Camp Gideon Camp Director and the Summer Camp Director to plan and execute summer programming consisting of pre-summer mentoring and preparation, staff training, and programming for children, youth, and families. This position offers the responsibility to lead, mentor, and be discipled by others. It is a position that requires full reliance on God, as it is impossible to accomplish on oneโ€™s strength alone. It is a challenge that is wholly rewarding. 
  • This role is mainly administrative and detail-oriented. This person works both behind the scenes and in front of campers, staff, and families. This role assumes leadership over the activity areas of the camp. This includes being lifeguard trained (Camp Gideon will pay for your certification if needed), serving as the camp lifeguard all summer, train the staff to facilitate the activity areas of camp including the Challenge Course, archery, canoeing, playground, game room, and craft area.
  • This is a paid position from January 1, 2025 - August 1, 2025. Hours are part-time from Jan-May and full-time from May-August.
  • Previous summer camp experience preferred
Cabin Counselor (6)
  • Cabin Counselors are young adults who have completed their first year of college or are at least one year removed from high school. They lead a group of 6-10 campers each week. Aided by an assistant counselor, they are responsible for ensuring their campers' physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Counselors lead various activities and participate in all types of programming. Cabin Counselors serve as the Spiritual Leaders of their cabin weekly and they work to reflect the light and love of Christ each day to their campers. 
  • This is a paid position from Staff Training to Staff Closing. They are paid for weeks and weekend camps worked.
Assistant Counselor (8)
  • Assistant Counselors are staff members who have finished the tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade. They assist the cabin counselor with weekly responsibilities and cabin oversight. Assistant counselors will have daily opportunities to share the love of Jesus with their campers and guests. They may also be asked to lead activities and devotions under the direction of a Cabin Counselor.
  • This is a paid position for the weeks and weekends worked.
SIT (Servant in Training)
  • Servants in Training (SIT) are staff members who have finished the ninth or tenth grade. They will primarily assist the summer leadership team in behind-the-scenes work, but they will also serve under a counselor in a cabin. Their duties may include videotaping, cleaning, setting up and tearing down games and activities, etc. SITs will model the servant heart of Jesus through their work as they are the hands and feet of the summer. SITs serve in a volunteer capacity.
Meal Volunteer
  • Volunteer to help serve 1 meal, 1 day, 1 week, or the whole summer.
Camp Health Care Coordinator
This role coordinates the medical needs of campers throughout the camp session. They are present at camper registration to oversee medical forms and the intake and distribution of medicine as well as provide first aid as needed.

This role is a volunteer position working one week at a time. Previous medical experience is preferred.

Summer Camp Director - POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED!
  •  The Summer Program Director leads the summer program and the summer staff to accomplish the mission of Camp Gideon Summer Camp Ministries. They have a responsibility to lead both programmatically and spiritually. The Summer Leadership Team alongside the Camp Director recruits, interviews, hires, and trains summer staff.  The Summer Program Director coordinates and plans the chapel program, and cabin connects (cabin Bible study), and has daily oversight over camp sessions and schedules. This role is largely administrative and detail-oriented. This person works both behind the scenes and in front of campers, staff, and families. This is an amazing opportunity to grow in your leadership abilities.
  • This is a paid position from January 1, 2025 - August 1, 2025. Hours are part-time from Jan-May and full-time from May-August.
    • Previous summer camp experience preferred.
Head cook - This position has been filled.
  • Coordinate the kitchen, all meal prep and serving, lead the summer staff kitchen workers and volunteers, and order food. Be able to interact with campers, staff, and guests of camp with the love of Christ.
